JS: In your years of experience as a teacher, teacher educator and writer, how have your beliefs regarding teaching and learning changed? Has any paradigm shifted along the way?

During the pandemic, millions of students have been thrown into online versions of their classes and the results have varied. What has become clear is that following an online lesson on a screen from home can be more taxing for students and it can be more difficult for the teacher to maintain their attention. One tool that we can use to cope with this is the implementation of microbreaks: short breaks during a period of work.

The time for us to meet for the first time this year, the Spring ’26 Athens IPE, has come.

We offer workshops on the importance of connection and discipline for both parents and educators.

ANSWER:  Try our activity titled “My Relaxing Summer Experience:  A Post-Summer Break Guided Composition”.  It is appropriate for B1 and above learners.  Aside from providing them with vocabulary recall and in-class writing practice as you requested, this activity can be extended to class project work requiring learner poster or powerpoint presentations.

QUESTION:  I know that one of my responsibilities as a language teacher is to guide my learners in 'learning to learn'. My greatest challenge,to date, is to figure out a way to encourage them to keep in touch with English over the holidays when we do not hold classes.Once they return, it seems to take weeks for them to get back into using English fluently.

Τα αγαπημένα μέσα δισεκατομμυρίων χρηστών του διαδικτύου μπορεί να προσφέρονται δωρεάν αλλά ο χρόνος που απαιτεί η διαχείρισή τους κοστίζει πραγματικά ακριβά. Και ειδικά όταν αυτά τα μέσα σχετίζονται με την επιχειρηματική σας παρουσία τότε τα πράγματα δυσκολεύουν.
